When the world sort of came “back” after the pandemic, I wasn’t ready for it. I’d adjusted to this slower pace of life, which gave me space to examine my priorities and what really brings me joy. It’s a reminder to myself to live fully in the present, so that life becomes these poignant, meaningful moments that will carry us through the times ahead.
lyrics
Some days it feels like I’m moving way too fast
The view out my window gets blurry
When the present fades into past
There’s no time to forget what we’re here for
Oh, I wanna stay just a little bit longer
Slow down
Long enough to take a polaroid picture
And wave it around
Until the moment is material
The streets are buzzing with a swarm of bodies
Turning every which way to stay moving
Is it really productivity?
Feels like everyone’s screaming for my attention
I wanna tune it out for a little bit longer
Can we slow down?
Long enough to take a polaroid picture
And wave it around
Until the moment is material
This ain't Texas. This ain't Nashville. This is country that straddles the US and Canadian border. Its wide open, strong, and a little vulnerable, and in a lot of cases having a good ol' time. I love her feel. veenstar
A very clever songwriter and an album that bears many, many repeat listens. Worth the price for the Little Feat reference (in Tehachapi) alone, but it's her way with an image that sticks longest. "You left the building in a flurry / Had your boots on in the house." Caoimhín
i love eilen jewell. just listened to the entire album, get behind the wheel, now going back and listening to and savoring individual tracks. her music has an indescribable beauty. it's real, honest, sweet, powerful, touching, universal. it's a special artist that can do all that and leave you coming back for more. tikibarjim
